Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage celebrated its 48th anniversary with a charming event organized for the same on February 16, 2023. This event signifies the date on which the orphanage was officially opened to the public. In celebration, almsgiving of nutritional milk rice, fresh fruits, and medicinal leaves was done for the herd of all 71 elephants that inhabit the facility.
