Department of National Zoological Gardens: A Hub for Nature and Wildlife Diversity

Welcome to the Department of National Zoological Gardens, Sri Lanka’s premier institution dedicated to wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and public education. Through our four major facilities—the National Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the Pinnawala Open Zoo, and the Ridiyagama Safari Park—we provide a safe haven for thousands of indigenous and exotic species. By implementing scientific captive breeding programs and maintaining naturalistic habitats, we strive to offer you an immersive and educational experience that fosters a deep connection with the natural world.
